Umm...Complex's description is pretty sweet so I'll just use theirs. I was kinda iffy on if I liked A$AP Rocky or not. I thought he was cool just didn't know what to feel about him. This video for some reason makes me respect him a little more. Big up to Jeremy Scott and Complex for this, though.

Japanese designer, Nigo (BAPE) has partnered with Converse to design for their Japanese Addict line. He added a zipper on the side which, to me, is pretty nifty. I had some old high top Pumas I could lace losely enough I never had to tie them and I don't feel like retying my shoes all the time. This zipper would be nice. lol "He has also utilized a Vibram sole to further enhance the intriguing look (and feel) of the sneaker". - Complex

I've done a lot of features of international hiphop (my ongoing "Hip Hop In" series, most recently was Spain)
So I decided to do a feature on a clothing store (fashion is a part of hiphop, right?)

Burner is one of the oldest online hiphop shops in Germany; selling the latest streetwear, sneakers, and hip hop gear for over 10 years.

Their fast shipping & friendly customer service combined with their selection are what have kept them in business for so long. (They have a pretty dope selection of Nike Shox but I'm kinda diggin' this FORVERT hoodie.

I was at Agenda in Long Beach this week and beside all the dope streetwear brands I met I found Stance who specializes in the forgotten footwear, socks (I'm trademarking that, btw).

They had a cool promotion going where if you donate your socks (which I really liked, btw) they'll give you a pair of theirs. They wash all the socks and donate them to the homeless which is pretty cool.

I chose the 'Sock Monkey' style...mostly because they make them big enough to fit people like me (I got the 13.5-16s).

I don't know much about Short Dawg except when I heard people say his name I thought they meant Too $hort for awhile. lol. His style reminds me of like...if Mac Miller were from Houston. (Idk how else to describe it...you'll see what I mean).

Decided to check his new mixtape and this dude is jammin'. I don't know what his priority level is at Young Money (my guess is low seeing as who runs it, who's on it, and who's bringing in $ right now) but this dude is pretty nice. He has some pretty heavy features on his album, too (lil Keke, Z-Ro, etc...dope).

I hope he gets the push I think he deserves or he gets away from YM and does something.

Tef Poe is probably my favorite MC in STL and has been for a few years. I first heard him on a mixtape by DJ Trackstar when browsing the local section at Vintage Vinyl (a staple in STL music scene). I've known dude for a few years and also featured him on the CLExSTL project we did a few years ago (check here).

He teams up with Trackstar again to bring you his newest release, "Power Over Everything" which I think is his best release since "The Redeemer" a few years ago. This feels more like him; less forced.

This is what I love about the internet. I'm in Bangkok right now and can watch the BET Cypers ALMOST when y'all back in the states can. BET really diversified their roster this year ranging from the usual suspects (Shady, Busta, etc) but added OH's hometown hero, Machine Gun Kelly, and also added blind rappers, female rappers, white rappers, Christian rappers, southern rappers, west coast rappers, and more which I think is AWESOME. I know I just put everyone in a category but by adding diversity I think it helps break down the barriers.

I was gonna post 'em all but I don't feel like it anymore after watching the Shady 2.0 one with Eminem, Yelawolf, and Slaughterhouse. Shout out to DJ Premier.

New Skee-Lo Video.

I've been a fan of Skee-lo for years. His 1995 song "I Wish" is classic and the album (same title) is one of my favorites.

I interviewed him 2 years ago and heard some new material and was pretty excited for a comeback. He is one who I feel has honestly mastered different delivery styles which makes for a very versatile MC. I just saw on twitter he'd released a new video for the Killer Holiday soundtrack so I of course watched it. It's called Burnin' Up featuring someone named Akapello.

Obviously 1995 and 2011 are different eras of music style and video technology and evolution is necessary for sustainability in the entertainment industry (think Beatles, Kanye West, etc).

His delivery is great but something seems...off. It's just not what I expect when I hear Skee-Lo, you know? It seems a little forced/generic as far as the video but it does have some little interjections of his sense of humor and style. But let me know what you think.

I'll be honest with you...you won't believe me but I'll say it anyway....I don't look at porn...[anymore lol...well, I may have done some research on Tia before our interview]. BUT, much like my fascination with organized crime and black market enterprises, I'm very intrigued with this whole sub-culture that is adult entertainment. I was curious how it works, what do they like doing? Do the actors do things they don't like doing? Do their families know?

What luck that in Cleveland, Ohio we have the lovely [and intelligent], Tia Ling. I was able to talk with her about all of the aforementioned topics along with some other things about what makes Tia tick.

Essince: First of all, thanks for your time, ms. Tia Ling. I'll just come right out and say it, how [the heck] did you get involved in the adult entertainment industry? What made you want to?

Tia Ling: My boy friend at the time had a good friend that shot adult in the downtown Cleveland area. Got my start there and next thing I knew [I] started shooting in Miami and ended up at the AVNs meeting an agent :) I love sex, I love money .... just seemed like a good combination, lol

Essince: [who doesn't. lol] Do you ever get recognized in the streets? Does your family know yet?

Tia Ling: Yes I do, not constantly, but I do. For some reason I seem to get recognized at airports and grocery stores a lot, lol, but no, my family actually does not know. At least if they do they've never said anything.

Essince: I follow you on twitter and I see some of the things people [men] say and as unsurprising as it is...it's still surprising. lol. Does it bother you having to interact as Tia Ling the pornstar 24 hours a day and not just off-camera you?

Tia Ling: Nah, doesn't bother me .... I really enjoy interacting with the fans. Some of them can be a bit crude, lol. But most of the time it's all in good fun. If someone gets out of line, I let them know about it.

Essince: [Pardon my ignorance] Are there managers and agents in the adult entertainment industry? Or do you kind of have to learn and do industry things on your own?

Tia Ling: Yes there are agents. My first couple years in the business I needed one. After that I learned to book myself mostly. I seemed to be booking a lot of my own stuff through agents and paying them for my work, just didn't seem to make sense.

Ess: Do you do your work from here in OH? I see more advertising about working here but thought of it more as a California business.

TL: I do a lot of stuff for my website here in Ohio at a local studio in Cleveland called Voodoo Media Group. However, most of the larger dvd stuff is shot in LA / Miami.

Ess: Are the films you're marketed in your sexual turn ons in real life? What do you like doing?

TL: Most of the stuff I shoot I do truly enjoy, even some of the extreme fetish stuff. However, there have been a couple scenes that I just wished I had never done lol. (With the exception of getting paid) I just didn't enjoy them. I've been very lucky though in that I've been able to really enjoy 95 % of my scenes. There's not a lot I don't like sexually, though :)

Ess: What's your best work experience?

TL: I'm assuming you mean best scene for adult, I'd say it's a toss up between quite a few, but Invasian 3 and Asian Fucking Nation 3 always stood out in my mind.

Ess: I remember hearing your first kiss wasn't until college...how did you jump from being a late bloomer into this? lol. Kinda making up for lost time?

TL: Haha , well I was definetely a late bloomer. [I] lost my virginity my freshman year of college. Porn came pretty late for me though, around 28. So I didn't shoot porn anywhere near college really.

Ess: If you could do a scene with ANYONE, porn or not, who would be it?

TL: Oh god, hard to say .... lol ... I guess I'll go with a real common answer, Brad Pitt, lol :)

Ess: Do you ever meet your fans offline? You said something about a fan shoot or something?

TL: I only meet fans at shows or for fanshoots, which is a little thing I started doing for my website where the member shoots with me for a scene for my site. I 'm very interactive with my members for my websites, tialing.com and tialingfetishworld.com, as well as with email and twitter.

Ess: Do you have an exit strategy? Do pornstars transition to work behind the scenes? Do you plan to?

TL: I'm currently in school for Interior design, 1 year left , so that's my plan when I'm done with porn.

Terror Squad ft Big Pun - Whatcha Gonna Do

Someone posted the question online about top 5 rap groups ever and I didn't name TS but the first terror squad album (the selt-titled one with Pun [r.i.p.]) is, was, will be fire.

The chemistry between those guys on the mic is incredible and TS had some of the most talented lyricists I know.

It's no secret that the late great Big Moon Dog aka Big Punisher is my favorite and with lines like in this first video, Whatcha Gon' Do" it's no wonder why...

I made the assumption that Samurydas was a combination of Samurai+Rydas, but you know the old saying about assuming things so I never mentioned it til now. Thanks to the homie Kojoe for verifying that for me (3:03). lol

This comes from the Kurupt executive-produced album, "The Academy" and trust the project is ILL. I was able to check it out a while ago but this is something I'm definitely going to cop. For my review of the CD and to listen to and download Samurydas click here.

Mo Pacino "Smoke Up" MV

I met MoPacino a few years ago at a show I did with MGK in Cleveland to promote the Ohio Hip Hop Awards. MGK and I were chilling in the parking lot and Mo Pacino rolled up to catch our sets. (He was real late and missed it but it's the thought that counts, right?).

Anyway, he and I got to talking and he's a name you hear around the Cleveland hiphop scene, worked with DJ KaySlay, and is also making big strides in the Arabic community. Respect, brotha.
