A few weeks ago I heard the new single by a Japanese soul singer, named Nao Yosihoka. I was a fan of a singer when I was a singer named Toshi when I was in high school. Nao only sings in English, despite being raised in Osaka. She has a beautiful voice and we had a great conversation about everything from how she's was raised being the only singer in a creative household to her first major US festival and the difference between US and Japanese fans.
I might have even convinced her to serenade me with a soul classic, too.
