For those who aren't hip, social media platform MySpace hosted FREE shows across the country. They were pop up shows and didn't announce the acts until right before. It was amazing to see and meet everyone.
This dropped the other day (after 11 years!) and garnered some national media because the album was funded by fellow Torontonian, Drake. There was chatter across the web about any possible influence Drake would have on the album, but it sounds very hands-off and just a sign of mutual, artistic respect.
Apple Music adds, "Back in the 2000s, K-OS taught the incoming Drake generation how hip-hop could be as melodic and malleable as you wanted it to be, and BLackneck shows his rap rebellion remains as joyful as ever."
But enough talk. I've had this on repeat. I love it. There's an eclectic sound with rock influence, melodic hip-hop, and more. "OK Corral" is my favorite but I'll probably have this on loop tonight as I head to basketball practice.
Hit play and enjoy.
