Black Japanese/English Speaking Rapper Debut's City of God

City of God (produced by Casket:Jones) is about the crab in the bucket mentality of Toronto. The topic and themes are an expansion on critically acclaimed Brazilian crime film “City of God” and its tagline “If you run, the beast catches you; if you stay, the beast eats you”, meaning “If you try to run from hood, the hood holds you back; if you stay, you become a hoodlum like everyone else”. Yasuke and KitKat Fuego both narrate the story in the roles of the two main characters Benny and Lil

This resonated deeply with Toronto's own culture, which right now is seeing many tragic shootings of young black rappers and the rise in police brutality both foreign and domestically. Yasuke concludes his verse with "Police gun us down so do crime. Which you choosing?". Showing the inevitability of being given only two options as a black man from the inner city. City of God's intention is to shed light on the struggles of escaping circumstances beyond your control.

One of the Smoothest Songs I've Heard in a WHILE

So I stumbled upon this slick chillhop mix on Youtube the other night. Lately I've been just working to instrumental music or even progressive house. Just something I can vibe to, n'ahmean?

Anyway, this video comes on and has these cute animated critters and I let it run. FIRST song hits and...it's...how do I describe it...Have you ever had a song hit you and suddenly you felt like everything was gonna be alright? Like...man it was beautiful. The beat...the use of guitar and flute was just right.

To hear the whole mix click the link above but below is the standout by Hazy Year and C4C "Melted".

Press play.

3 Secrets I found about SH3's new video "Gelato"

Any longtime readers remember my past features of SH3 under a previous name. I've always been a fan of h3r voice and talents. Sh3's dope and just released the video for h3r new single "Gelato". I'd never watched a Video debut on Youtube before so that was a cool process I'll have to use in the future for some of my artists. But be sure I was all in the comments.
Gelato was shot in Miami with much of the video taking place on an ice-cream truck. The video isn’t as much a narrative as it is a montage of images reminiscent of summer and things associated with it - palm trees, sunshine, and of course, ice-cream.
I have it on good authority sh3 doesn't even eat gelato because of lactose intolerance (what a poser!) Just kidding, I'm in the tribe as well. I feel h3r pain.

Watch the video below first then scroll down to see some Exclusive insider secrets about the video 😉

Gelato Fun Facts
  1. Sh3 had to hand-alter the majority of h3r outfits" 'cause things rarely fit me off the rack and I didn’t have my sewing machine handy (the white dress I wear with the mask took me two days to sew)"

  2. She wears a necklace which spells out ‘CRY BABY’, as a proud member of HSPs (highly sensitive people) *sorry for calling you a poser earlier

  3. Sh3 forgot to ask the owner of the truck if they could use the ice cream machine, which is why actual ice cream never made it in the video

Not gonna lie, I was waiting for some Ice Cream shots lol (NOT that I was disappointed in any way with the Visuals 👀)
